MEDIA RELEASE Sunday 2nd April 2023
Braintree District Conservatives launch Manifesto for 2023 Braintree District Council Elections.
‘A record of action, a promise of more’ is the focus of the Braintree District Council Conservative Group manifesto, as they launched their campaign on Saturday.
In difficult times, thanks to sound financial management, Conservatives have been able to offer a £25 refund to all council tax paying households, from the proceeds of new growth fund and allocated £1 million to support residents with cost-of-living worries.
Having led Braintree District Council over the last four years, through some of the most challenging circumstances, including the pandemic and unprecedent financial pressures caused by inflation, local Conservatives will be fighting the election on a record of delivery and a six-point plan:
- Maintaining the services, we rely on
- Supporting communities with grants
- Keeping our town centres prosperous
- Plan future housing and protect our rural way of life
- Help our businesses grow
- Investment in our district, to make our communities stronger and more prosperous
Despite the pandemic, major projects such as Horizon 120, The Plaza Enterprise Centre, Victoria Square and Braintree town centre pedestrianisation, have been delivered with projects ready to go in Witham and Halstead, to complete the £100 million investment programme, launched at the end of 2018. The Council also adopted the local plan to protect communities, built a record number of affordable homes and dispatched tens of millions of grants to support businesses.
Cllr Graham Butland – Leader of Braintree District Council said: “We have a positive plan for the Braintree District, building on the excellent work over the last four years. The choice in this election is clear. A well-run council, protecting our excellent services through sound financial management and investment with the Conservatives or a mixture of other groups running BDC, with no plan and no experience."
